The original Caffrey's was first leased in October 1994. It was a fire damaged non habitable structure. In just 4 months, the building was restored, a new liquor license purchased from the township, the bar constructed, and staff hired and trained. The restaurant opened on January 24, 1995 and was immediately welcomed by the Lacey community.
Through the years we have shared the joys of the births of numerous children and grandchildren, and the losses (some much too early) of the customers as well as employees.
On the morning of September 5, 2018 the Caffrey's building was severely damaged by an accidental fire. This tragedy greatly affected the lives of not only the owners and the over 70 employees, but also many hundreds if not thousands of our customers.
The community support, besides being greatly appreciated, was also extremely inspiring. This outpouring of love and friendship emboldened the owners, Dan Coleman and Joe DePasquale, to continue their plans to build Caffrey's Backyard as well as restore Caffrey's to its original self. Construction is currently underway on the Caffrey's building and a January 2020 opening is anticipated. January 2020 will be Caffrey's 25th Anniversary.
